Retiring to a specific senior living community is more than just residing in the actual community itself. It’s also about the surrounding area, and what there is to offer to older adults in terms of convenience and fulfillment.

If you’re looking for both an exciting and supportive lifestyle, our community in Greensboro, North Carolina, provides this exact combination. Our independent living community is filled with well-appointed services and amenities and health services, and residents also branch out to surrounding Greensboro to explore all the wonderful attractions.

Read what some of WhiteStone’s residents have to say about their favorite places around town, and what Greensboro offers to area seniors.

Senior-favorite places in Greensboro

Greensboro Science Center

The Greensboro Science Center is for all ages. Anyone can learn something new each time they visit this part-zoo, part-aquarium attraction. The Science Center encourages personal discovery about life and the natural world through hands-on experiences and exhibits. “I saw animals at The Greensboro Science Center that I didn’t even know existed,” says resident Patsy Livingston.

Greensboro Symphony Orchestra

There’s a performance and musical styling for all tastes at the local Symphony Orchestra. Greensboro seniors frequent this attraction to feel the nostalgia of music they grew up listening to, as well as open their ears to new and exciting compositions. “There’s always a new show to catch, and it’s fun to get a bit dolled up to go to the orchestra,” says resident Jo Ann Cox.

Downtown Greensboro

The area of downtown Greensboro is an attraction in and of itself. Restaurants, shopping, nightlife, culture, sports, art – it’s all here. “I love frequenting downtown Greensboro with my friendly neighbors at WhiteStone, as well as with family when they come to visit. It’s fun to try new restaurants and browse the charming items in the many shops,” says resident Judy Young.

Why WhiteStone residents love Greensboro

“This area is all about family, whether you’re a resident in the community or venture outside of it. Our youngest daughter lives in Greensboro, and we love being close to her,” say residents Charles and Phyllis Jones.

“There’s nothing else like WhiteStone in Greensboro,” Charles adds.

“WhiteStone is very representative of the surrounding area. I’ve heard a lot of the history about the community, and my husband is the sixth member of his family to live here,” says Patsy. “WhiteStone makes you want to expand and explore the area.”
